Zoom Setup and Optimization

Zoom Setup And Optimization Tips

We often use Zoom for our online training, meetings, and calls. This app was launched in April 2011 but it gained its popularity more during the pandemic. Unlike other apps, Zoom has significant features that make a Zoom experience meaningful. It is one of the best video conferencing apps that allow you to experience a virtual face-to-face meeting.

Have you set up and optimized your Zoom account well?

Here are tips and tactics on how to set up and optimize your Zoom account effectively.

How to set up your ZOOM Account

There are two ways you can use Zoom, either through a web app or using your mobile phone. To create your account, you need to go to Zoom’s signup page then create an account by inputting your email, or you can simply sign in using your Google or Facebook account, you will then fill out some needed information. When you create using your email, you will be asked to verify your account by clicking the link they have sent in your email. Voila! You now have a Zoom account!

How to Start a Meeting

Using your web app, sign in using your email and password or, your Google or Facebook account. And if you want to start a meeting immediately, you will click on the orange “New Meeting” button. A video window will pop-up and you will be asked if you want to use your computer’s audio and if you want to test the speaker and microphone. To invite people to join the meeting, click the little arrow in the “Participant’s” button, a window will be opened where you will invite, and send an email with the meeting’s URL and password.

On the other hand, if you’re using your mobile app, you will only tap the “New Meeting” and then you will choose whether you want to start it with the video on and whether you want to use your personal meeting ID, and then tap “Start a Meeting.”

And if you want to invite others to join the meeting, you will tap “Participants” and again, tap the “invite” button. Afterwards, you will be able to send an invite message through Messenger, Messages, or Gmail.

How to Optimize Your Zoom Account

There are three areas to optimize your Zoom account namely video settings, filter and virtual background. In the video settings you can adjust if you want to have HD or not HD, you can mirror the video (that shows the whole picture as is), touch up appearance into smooth looking, and adjust the light if your light is a little bit low. Also, there are other preferences in filters like if you want the participant’s name on the video, if you want to show your video when you join the meeting, setting the audio and many more.

In terms of virtual background, there are so many available virtual backgrounds you can choose from. But, you can also upload your own choice of background and use it. Different setups are also available like makeup- putting eyebrows, changing the colour of your lips, adding a moustache and many more.
